Agile Delivery ManagerLocation - London with hybrid working as per departmental requirements (currently a MINIMUM of 40% (2 days per week)
LCP is an award-winning actuarial and analytics consultancy providing market-leading capabilities and advice across pensions and financial services, energy, health, and analytics.
We have an exciting opportunity to join the team as a Agile Delivery Manager, you will be playing a crucial role in advancing LCP InsurSight, our insurance analytics platform. InsurSight is LCP's award-winning SaaS for non-life insurers and is used by some of the largest insurers in the world to assess over £200bn of insurance reserves. This role will help deliver successful outcomes in the InsurSight development team, driving a culture of timely, iterative and adaptable delivery and promoting and embedding Agile practices within an Azure DevOps environment. Our team consists of:
- 1 Product manager
- 4 C# developers
- 2 Python developers
- 1 Actuarial data scientist
- 2 Front end developers
- 1 DevOps and site reliability engineer
- 3 QA Engineers
What will you be doing?
As a Agile Delivery Manager your key responsibilities will be:
- Under the guidance of the Partner &Product Manager for InsurSight, actively support the development of the InsurSight product through Agile Project Delivery practices, with particular emphasis on creating a best in industry product, motivated team and predictable estimation of work
- Facilitate team productivity and effectiveness through consultative collaboration regarding appropriate resource allocation, task-level coordination, and prioritisation
- Assume the role of coach within the team, advising team members regarding optimal Agile approaches to task-level delivery
- Assist in team development while holding teams accountable for their commitments, removing roadblocks to their work, leveraging organisational resources to improve capacity for project work, and mentoring and developing team members
- Alongside the Product Manager, help to articulate, write and prioritise Epics, Features and user stories to align product roadmap with client demand
- Organise and lead all Agile ceremonies (stand up, planning, refinement, review, retrospectives
- Own the removal of blockers and management of risk within the InsurSight team. This will include building strong working relationships with departments across LCP, such as LCP'sDigital Services (IT) team
- Support the product team with identifying, planning and prioritising product-level development activity, facilitating communication and stakeholder engagement, managing customer expectations for deliverables and suitable governance measures
- Effectively apply Agile methods to manage concurrent projects and development teams (currently 3 planned) within a fast-paced, changing environment
- Establish feedback loops, taking responsibility for the translation and measurement of value and how this relates to practical objectives and the needs of the business. Agree the measurements of success and track the results, informing the Product Manager and technical leads. Metrics to be used for measuring success include, but not limited to cycle time, bug responses time and ROI on Azure spend
- Establish and cultivate relationships with stakeholders, be a trusted advisor and authority within the firm's Agile community and champion best practices
- Own the release process for InsurSight, managing release candidates and working alongside the development team to release safely and efficiently
- Key contributor to the InsurSight Steering Group, assuming ultimate responsibility for delivery dates, blockers and plans to remediate
Skills and Experience:
- Solid understanding of software development life cycle models as well as expert knowledge of both Agile and traditional project management principles and practices and the ability to blend them together to fit differing project needs and stakeholders ranging from developers working on the product, up to senior partner level
- Demonstrable experience of becoming a subject matter expert in a B2B SaaS product, acting as a go to for questions, queries and providing support refining and articulating work items (Epics, Stories, Tasks), acting as a proxy to the Product Manager on operational prioritisation and conversing with customers via support channels
- A proven track record of successfully operating in a SaaS product in a senor role offering, implementing and maturing Agile methodologies, in a fluid development environment with multi-function teams. Experience of dotted line management of other delivery professionals (eg ScrumMaster, other delivery managers) is preferred
- Proven experience of managing both internal and external stakeholders to agree consensus and a plan
- In-depth knowledge and demonstrable experience of
- Implementing Agile in a scale-up team
- What good looks like within an Agile software development context
- Motivating product development teams to derive the most value
- Successful Agile coaching
- SaaS products (with experience of supporting and involvement in commercial negotiations desirable). The ideal candidate would have 5 years+ experience working for a SaaS product, ideally from start up to established product
- Prior experience supporting the development of Agile practices within a maturing Agile environment, which is seeking to establish and embed best practices
- Sufficient level of technical background (Azure, Cosmos DB, C#, Python) to provide credible leadership to product teams and evaluate complex project risks and issues accurately and objectively
