What our team doThe Risk Benefits Consulting (RBC) practice is a long established and successful department, based in London.
We provide advice to both corporate clients and trustees on a range of health and well-being employee benefits. We manage the design, broking and administration of;
- life assurance
- income protection
- critical illness insurance
- private medical insurance and health cash plans
- dental insurance
- trustee indemnity insurance and much more
We design, price and place insurance with a range of insurers for both new and existing arrangements.
We are looking for a skilled and enthusiastic individual to further strengthen our team.
What will you be doing? As a Senior Consultant, you will serve as a consultant for a portfolio of clients across multiple sectors building strong client and insurer relationships.
In this role, you will typically:
- Design and run market tenders and renewals: data capture, insurer briefings, and negotiation terms of insurance
- Advise clients and present to them their particular market options, attending meetings where necessary
- Manage client issues (claims escalations, underwriting queries, eligibility disputes) to resolution, coordinating with insurers
- Market services to prospects and new business development
What skills, qualities and experience are we looking for?We are looking for a senior individual with broad industry experience, strong technical expertise, and a proven ability to advise clients and lead colleagues.
Qualifications and experience - Preferably degree educated and holding a professional qualification (e.g. CII)
- Proven experience in the risk benefits industry at a senior level
- Preferably experience of pitching for and winning new business
- Ideally experience of healthcare (but not essential)
Technical knowledge - Strong up-to-date technical knowledge of cover options and difference between insurers options, applicable taxation and legislation, state benefits interaction, and trends in market and underwriting approaches
- Awareness of future regulatory developments, with the ability to anticipate their impact on clients and provide proactive advice and guidance
- Competence in Microsoft Outlook, Teams, Word, Powerpoint and Excel, with the ability to quickly learn new software and adapt to changing technology and AI advances as required
Professional and interpersonal skills - Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence, negotiate and present confidently
- Strong stakeholder management, able to build lasting client relationships
- Effective project management, able to manage priorities to time and budget
- High level of commercial acumen, recognising opportunities and managing budgets
- Strong decision-making skills, balancing technical requirements with practical outcomes
Personal attributes and approach - Professional in conduct, acting as a senior ambassador for LCP
- Flexible and adaptable, able to respond to changing client and business need
- Organised and proactive, with the ability to manage competing demands effectively
- Self-motivated, with the initiative to drive progress
