Cyber Assistant Underwriter Would you like to help build a market-leading Cyber underwriting business?
We are recruiting an
Assistant Underwriter to support the growth of the MGA's portfolio of cyber business, with the aim of producing pioneering client solutions and contributing to a sustainably profitable portfolio for our carrier partners. The MGA targets mid-market clients who are domiciled around the world.
This is a pivotal initiative for Aon, with sponsorship from the highest level, and will benefit from being able to draw on Aon's extensive Cyber Solutions capabilities, broking and client knowledge, actuarial and exposure management teams, as well as the opportunity to work with other proprietary tools.
This is a hybrid role with the flexibility to work from our London office and virtually

What the day will look like As a
Cyber Assistant Underwriter, your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the establishment of a market-leading cyber insurance proposition
- Learning, understanding and consistently applying the team's cyber underwriting approach and guidelines
- Assisting underwriters in operating within delegated authority limits, including preparation of referrals where appropriate
- Supporting the generation of new business opportunities by:
- Helping to build relationships with the wider Aon
- Assisting with the preparation of quotations, renewal terms and documentation
- Helping ensure the team maintains acceptable service levels
- Assisting in the development of good working relationships with AUM's capacity providers to support seamless referral processes⠀
- Helping to monitor product competitiveness in terms of price and scope of cover (e.g. gathering market intelligence, preparing comparison analyses).
- Ensuring risk data is accurately recorded and reported across relevant systems and tools⠀
- Providing input and administrative support to the development and marketing of the cyber MGA's products, while utilising the strength of Aon's world-class cyber capabilities in placement, risk management and response⠀
How this opportunity is different The Cyber MGA is part of Aon's UK-based MGA business unit which trades as Aon Underwriting Managers (AUM). AUM is one of the largest organically grown multiline MGAs in the UK, focusing on writing specialty and P&C business on behalf of Lloyd's and Company market capital partners. AUM has ambitious growth plans which benefit from being able to draw on Aon's united and collaborative approach to providing the best client solutions.
The international nature of this initiative gives the successful Assistant Underwriter the opportunity to work with Aon teams and clients around the globe. As you will be joining the Cyber MGA early on, there will be several opportunities for progression and career growth, including development towards a full Underwriter role.
Skills and experience that will lead to success - Some experience within insurance, ideally within underwriting support, assistant underwriting, broking or a related role
- An interest in and basic understanding of the cyber risks businesses face, with a desire to develop deeper technical knowledge over time⠀
- Demonstrable ability to manage multiple internal stakeholders, prioritising tasks and managing expectations⠀
- Awareness of, or willingness to learn about, MGA business including Delegated Authority management, Lloyd's and Company markets⠀
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to help establish excellent working relationships with brokers and insurers⠀
- Numerate and analytical, with an interest in learning how to profitably grow a book of insurance business⠀
- Proactive, collaborative attitude and self-starter mindset, with a willingness to take on new tasks and develop new skills under guidance
- Any prior experience in cyber, technology, or professional lines insurance would be an advantage, but is not essential
